Itinerary
On arrival at Chennai airport meet our representative with placard of your name and transfer to Hotel & relax. Chennai is the capital city of Tamilnadu and the largest city of south India and also called as gate way of southern India. Overnight in Chennai.
After breakfast proceed for a local tour of Chennai visit Fort St George, Fort Museum, St Mary's Church, War memorial Marina beach and aquarium, Parthasarathy temple, San Thomas cathedral basilica & Kapaliswarar temple. Later drive to Mahabalipuram. Town of Mahabalipuram is famous for its various temples & other attractive features. On arrival, check in Hotel & relax. Later visit the Arjuna’s Pennace- it’s an enormous relief made on two huge boulders, is the universe itself in stone, Shore Temple – A three in one abode of God – A Vishnu Temple sandwiched between two Shiva Temples. It is a visual pleasure. Rathas- A group of structures lying at the southern extreme of Mahabalipuram, amidst casuarinas trees, are the famous Rathas (Chariot). The Panch Pandava Rathas, as they are called, are in five numbers. Out of these, four are carved out of a single Rock, while the fifth on the west is scooped out from a small rock. Besides these there are Ganesh Ratha to the north of the main hill and two pidari Rathas on the eastern side. Krishna Temple & Caves of Mahabalipuram is the other worthful attractions. After breakfast drive to Pondicherry. It is away from the hustle and bustle of big city, Pondicherry is a quiet little town on the southern coast. The unmistakable French connection, the tree lined boulevards, the quaint colonial heritage buildings, the spiritual scene, the endless stretches of unspoilt virgin beaches, backwater, a surprising choice of restaurants serving a melange of cuisines. Enjoy beautiful beaches of Pondicherry & other sightseeing. Overnight in Pondicherry.
After breakfast, drive to Thanjavur. On arrival check into the hotel & relax. In the afternoon visit Brihadeshwara Fort & Temple, which is a Chola architectural marvel. This is also listed in the UNESCO world heritage. Also you will visit Thanjavur Palace & Museum, which houses a library, museum and art gallery. Overnight in Thanjavur.
After breakfast, proceed to Rameshwaram- the most sacred temple town of India is an island hallowed by the epic Ramayana, where Lord Rama is said to have visited before going into battle of Lanka. Legend has it that Lord Rama sent Hanuman to Mount Kailash to bring a Lingam for worship when he set foot after defeating Ravana. As Hanuman did not return when the auspicious hour was approaching, Sita made a sand Lingam so that worship could be performed in time, which is where the present day Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands close to sea on the eastern side of the island. One of the twelve Jyotirlingam shrines is also well known for its magnificent corridors and the massive sculptured pillars lining them. Overnight stay in Hotel.
After breakfast drive to Madurai. On arrival check into the hotel & relax. Later enjoy the visit of World’s famous Meenakshi Temple. 1000 pillars beautifully carved on stone is perfection of art & architecture. Later visit Tirumalai Nayak Mahal & Gandhi Museum. Overnight in Madurai.
After breakfast drive to Kanyakumari. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India & is surrounded on three sides by the Laccadive Sea. On arrival check in hotel & relax. Evening watch the most beautiful Sunset of Kanyakumari. Overnight in Kanyakumari.
After breakfast enjoy sightseeing of Kanyakumari with Suchithram Temple, Devi Kanyakumari Temple & Vivekanand Rock Memorial. Later drive to Kovalam. It is known as the "Paradise of the South". Kovalam is warm and clean filled with the coconut trees and the white sanded as the sea breeze gently plays with the waves. Swimming and bathing are very refreshing and exhilarating in the waves. After breakfast, drive to Alleppey. It is a famous town for Backwaters & beautiful Houseboat. On arrival, check in houseboat & relax. After breakfast drive to Thekkady. It is well known for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. There is an abundance of wildlife, from flora, birds and insects up to bears, leopards, elephants and even tigers, although they keep themselves well hidden usually. After breakfast drive to Munnar. Munnar is a beautiful hill station on the Western Ghats at about 1600m above sea level. This majestic hill station was once the summer resort of the British government in South India due to the fresh mountain air. The town is situated at the confluence of the three mountain streams Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala and is surrounded by lakes, reservoirs, forests and several tea estates. Anamudi (2695m), the highest peak in south India dominates the skyline and the many smaller peaks are a walker’s paradise. On the way enjoy some waterfalls and natural scenic spots. After breakfast enjoy full day local sightseeing Munnar includes visit to Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake and Echo point. Afternoon proceed to Rajamalai were the rarest species of mountain goat, "Nilgiri Thars", can be spotted. Overnight in Munnar.
After breakfast drive to Cochin. On arrival, check in hotel & relax. Later explore the oldest Christian church in the country, Chinese fishing nets, a XVIth century synagogue and a Portuguese-made palace… Kochi is also the best place to enjoy a Khatakali show, a traditional form of dance theatre. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast you will be transferred to Cochin Airport for your flight to Home.
