Itinerary
On arrival at Srinagar airport you will be received by our representative & transfer to House Boat. Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir. The city is surrounded by awesome mountains and river Jhelum meanders through it. Late afternoon enjoy Shikara drive on Dal Lake. The lake offers splendid colours and mood with every change in the weather that mesmerizes you & also you have so many options for photography while drive with panoramic view of the Zabarwan range & floating Vegetable gardens. Overnight at House Boat.
Morning after breakfast enjoy the visit of World famous Mughal garden, the name Mughal Gardens is given for the combination of three renowned gardens namely the Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure, commands a magnificent view of the lake and the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range), Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love, built by Emperor Jehangir for his wife Nur Jehan) & the Chesme Shahi (the Royal Spring was laid by Shah Jahan in 1632 & famous for a spring of refreshment digestive water) with panoramic view of the Dal Lake. In the last visit Pari Mahal,a school of astrology founded by Prince Dara Shikoh,Emperor Shah Jahan's eldest. The Cheshma Shahi-Pari Mahal area has been developed into a Tourist Village. Overnight in Hotel.
After breakfast drive to Kargil, enroute stops include Sonamarg and Baltal hamlets, famous for rugged snow peaked meadows. Past Baltal cross over Zoji-La Pass (11,575 ft). Reach the Drass (the second coldest inhabited place in the world). Also visit the Kargil War Memorial at Drass & view of the infamous war peaks of Tiger Hill, situated on the banks of river Suru at a height of 9,000 feet, midway between Srinagar and Leh, reach Kargil. Overnight stay at Kargil.
After breakfast drive to Uleytokpo via Lamayuru. About 40 Kms down the road is the town of Mulbek, a sleepy town which many would pass through without knowing the fact that next to the road is a statue of Maitreya, the future Buddha. It is believed that the 9 meter high statue carved out of solid rock was built in 7th or 8th century. A short drive from Mulbek will take you to 12198 ft high Namika La, a windy yet scenic pass. Roughly at about 40 Kms from Namika La is Fotu La, the highest point on the Srinagar - Leh highway, (13,479ft). After short yet scenic drive you will reach the village of Lamayuru, which houses one of the most famous and oldest monasteries of Ladakh. After visiting Lamayuru monastery drive continue toward Uleytokpo. On arrival, check in Resort & relax. Overnight at Uleytokpo.
After breakfast, start scenic drive to Leh. Enroute visit Alchi and Likir Monasteries. These monasteries house Buddha and renowned 1000-year-old religious wall paintings. On arrival in Leh, check into the hotel & relax. Evening free to explore colorful market of Leh by walk. Overnight at Leh.
Full day sightseeing tour of the monasteries – Hemis, Shey and Thikse. The Hemis Gompa is the most powerful of the monasteries in the vicinity of Leh and belongs to the Kaguyupa Buddhist sect. Shey and Thikse occupy hill top sides and offer remarkable views across the Indus Valley. Overnight at Leh.
Hold your breath, as today will be the day that takes you to the top of the world. We will drive over the world's highest motorable pass (5,606m), with breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges. This pass leads into the picturesque Nubra valley, where we will be surprised by the vista of sand dunes. On arrival, check in camp & relax.
We will drive along the Nubra River on a very pretty road headed for the hot springs of Panamik, where you can enjoy a hot bath with some therapeutic value for your muscles. Turning around, the road back will take us to a different kind of drive: you can mount a camel for a drive through the sand dunes of Hunder. We will stay in Hunder once more, where you should sit outside for a while to enjoy a sky so clear and bright, with the Milky Way so close, that you will not forget this sight.
For various reasons, this day's drive is arguably one of the best drives one can do in the Ladakh region. For one, the forgotten route along the Shyok River has no traffic at all. And driving along the Shyok river we will encounter a unique landscape of desert, rivers, snowcapped mountains and farms before reaching the Changtang region with it’s meadows and plains leading up to the beautiful Pangong Tso Lake. This lake reaching far into China is absolutely stunning with its clear turqoise waters framed by majestic mountains and pristine nature. On arrival, check in camp & relax.
After a breakfast with an incredible vista we will head off for the climb to the Chang La Pass, the third highest pass in the world (5,320m). Curve after curve we will then swing down for 2000m into the valleys decorated with picturesque monasteries perched on steep hills that coulour the arid scenery at the foot of the towering mountains. We will reach the ancient capital of Ladakh once more and will spend the afternoon in Leh, going for a dip in the mountain streams or enjoying the hustle and bustle of the old city.
After breakfast, drive to Tso Moriri Lake. Tsomoriri Lake is a high altitude Lake in Ladakh. It is situated at a height of 4595 m above sea level. It is a relatively easy drive till Sumdo, few Kms after which it is best not to use the road since it is too bumpy, instead either make your own track by driving off road or use one of the numerous tracks left by passing vehicles. On arrival in Tso Moriri, check into the camp & relax. Overnight in camp at Tso Moriri.
Morning enjoy the walk on the bank of Tsomoriri lake & visit the Korzok monastery. The monastery itself is a beautiful construction standing in the silence of the lake and the mountains. Later drive back to Leh via Tsokar Lake. On arrival in Leh, check in hotel & relax.
Morning transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi.
