KanyaKumari is a town in Kanyakumari district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name comes from the Devi Kanya Kumari Temple in the region. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India, and is surrounded on three sides by the Laccadive Sea. It is famous for its majestic hills, virgin beaches, pristine rivers and meandering rivulets. The district has a fragrance of architecture culture and customs of neighbouring Kerala mixed with the rich deep traditions, culture and architecture of Tamil Nadu. Kanyakumari unique in itself for being amongst the very few places in the country where you could watch a sunrise and also a sunset sitting in the very same spot is also famous for the Kumari Amman temple!
